THE opening of Colchester's new big-name restaurant has moved a step closer after plans for new signage were approved.
Loungers UK Limited is opening its latest restaurant, Romano Lounge, as part of the redevelopment of the town's old East of England Co-op, in in Long Wyre Street development.
As part of the plans, the restaurant chain applied to install new fascia signage, hanging sign and menu board at the premises.
These plans have now been approved by Colchester Council's planning department.
The restaurant is set to be open from 8am to 11.30pm Monday to Thursday, from 8am to midnight Friday and Saturday and from 8am to 11pm on Sundays and Bank Holidays.

The £5.5 million revamp of the old Co-op will see two retail and five restaurant units created as well as 24 apartments, made up of suites and one and two-bed flats.
The restaurants will have outside dining space with the nearby St Nicholas Square undergoing a total revamp.
The road is set to be made one-way as part of the revamp, which will also see space for events and more room for pedestrians.
