ENGLAND fans have been urged to keep a level head when watching the national team’s crunch Euro2020 clash this weekend after police reports of “minor” issues.
Fans flocked to Colchester town centre’s pubs and bars on Tuesday to witness England’s landmark win over Germany.
While scenes remained predominantly jubilant, Essex Police reported several minor incidents as part of its Euro2020 policing operation.
A spokesman confirmed one man who had been asked to leave a pub in Crouch Street continued to cause issues outside the premises.
A Covid breach was reported inside a premises in North Hill, while officers were called to an altercation between three men at a premises in Balkerne Hill.
The spokesman added: “We also monitored a group of people in Head Street, who were ultimately escorted so no roads were blocked.
“That group was monitored for about one hour after the final whistle, before those gathered dispersed.”

Superintendent Nick Morris, who is leading the Essex Police Euro 2020 operation, is upping patrols to prevent a repeat of the chaotic scenes witnessed in Colchester during the 2018 World Cup.
Following an England World Cup win in 2018 flares were hurled into the air and people climbed on top of bus shelters and lampposts in a frenzy of excitement.
Mr Morris said: “We will have additional patrols in place during high profile matches to ensure that people enjoy them responsibly.”
England next face Ukraine in the quarter finals on Saturday evening.
Simon Crow, Colchester councillor responsible for environment and sustainability, said: “It was such a fantastic night for England and for all of us, so with Saturday coming up and even more to play for it’s important people remember to keep a level head when they are out in town.
“It is vital everyone does there bit to ensure social distancing is maintained.
“We’re all hoping England get the result we need.”
