DOZENS of pieces of specialist equipment from one of Colchester's oldest employers are being auctioned to the highest bidder online.
Engine producer MAN Energy Solutions is shutting down the former Paxman factory, in Hythe Hill, leading to the loss of 70 jobs.
Paxman has been a fixture of Colchester for 150-years but its German owners say Brexit and coronavirus have forced their hand.
Before the final closure, the firm is auctioning off a collection of the specialist equipment used at the site online.
Items include wheel grinders, lathes, industrial drills and measuring machines.

Starting prices for the auction, which closes at 11am on Wednesday, range from £50 to £5,000 depending on the item.
The Paxman factory is set to close for the final time in August once the final orders have been completed.
