A WOMAN has been arrested after a man was stabbed during an assault in Colchester.
Officers were called to Catchpool Road at about 3.15am on Friday.
It had been reported a man had been assaulted outside a set of flats in the street and suffered stab wounds.
Essex Police attended and a man, in his 30s, was taken to hospital for treatment for injuries to his hip, wrist and legs.
Residents said officers remained at the scene for several hours on Friday morning.
A woman was arrested following the assault.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "A 39-year-old woman from Colchester was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.
"She has been released on bail until July 29."

Witnesses to the incident are being encouraged to come forward.
