A WORLD-RENOWNED chef was spotted filming a new mystery show near Colchester.
TV sensation Gordon Ramsay, best known for his colourful rants on shows such as Kitchen Nightmares and Hell’s Kitchen, was seen in West Mersea on Monday.
It was confirmed to the Gazette he paid a visit to island favourite business The Coast Inn.
It is understood the flamboyant chef was seen surrounded by a filming crew just off of Coast Road at about 9.15am.

While those involved are having to remain tight-lipped about the details of his visit, fans are getting excited at the prospect of a new show filmed on their doorstep.
It comes as no surprise food expert Mr Ramsay visited the island with its unrivalled reputation for providing oysters of the finest quality.
The island boasts renowned restaurant The Company Shed, which was opened by Heather Haward in the late 1980s, primarily as a weekend venture selling fish from local boats.
However, the restaurant has grown over the years in popularity and reputation.
It has been recognised in the past by internationally renowned chefs such as Rick Stein and Jay Rayner, who have praised the restaurant.
It has also received critical acclaim in the Times, the Guardian and Independent as being one of the best seafood restaurants to experience.
Its overwhelming success led to Mrs Haward opening another restaurant on the east side of the island, Mehalah’s, which closed two years ago.
More recently on our screens, Mr Ramsay is known for delighting the nation with his escapades across the globe with fellow celebrity chef Gino D’Aampo and First Dates’ Fred Sirieix.
He has opened a string of successful restaurants internationally, from the UK and France to Singapore and the United States, racking up a net worth just shy of £160 million in the process.
It is not clear what he was filming for on the island, but it seems like another one of north Essex’s treasures will be getting the TV star treatment once again.
