ONE of Colchester's most beloved arts venues has announced when it will finally reopen - after 15 months closed due to Covid rules.
Colchester Arts Centre will reopen its doors on Saturday, July 24, following the lifting of coronavirus restrictions.
During its enforced closure the building has undergone a significant refurbishment programme with new seating, south and lighting equipment all installed.
The venue is now more accessible and has "possibly the most stunning toilets in East Anglia" featuring mosaics created by artist Ann Schwegmann-Fielding.
The first performance will be from stand-up comedian, podcaster and author Sofie Hagen, with her latest show The Bumswing.
The following night, guitar virtuoso Antonia Forcione will play an intimate evening of jazz, Latin, African and flamenco sounds.
Colchester Arts Centre Director Anthony Roberts said: “I don’t know about anybody else but as for me there’s only so much Netflix a man can take. I’m desperate."
