A HAIR salon in Colchester town centre has celebrated 20 years as a cut above the rest.

Louse Smith opened The Workshop Hair in Crouch Street in the town way back in 2001.

Over the years the business has built a loyal customer base and nurtured many young stylists in Colchester.

To celebrate the milestone the salon was decorated with balloons and there were cakes available for customers.

Louise said: "I can honestly say I've enjoyed every minute.

"Hair has always been my passion, beginning my journey way back at the age of 13.

"It has been a privilege to work alongside every single person that has been a part of The Workshop's success - the achievements of a business are the results of the combined efforts of every individual.

"My clients are my extended family, without them my career would not have been possible.

"I never take it for granted and feel honoured you have all been on this journey with me - some for 30 plus years.

"Thank you to each and every one of you."

There are three senior stylists at the business, Louise, Helen, who has been with the business for 19 years, and Angie, who has been with the business for seven.
