Two areas of Colchester are seeing Covid cases and infections rates at the same levels last seen at the beginning of the January national lockdown.
The latest data from Public Health England shows that the areas of Abbey Field and Wivenhoe and the University have seen rates return to levels similar to the start of the year.
Of those, Abbey Field recorded the most cases (58) and also the worst infection rate (737.1 cases per 100,000), in the seven days to July 11.
In the latest data across the whole borough 661 new cases per recorded.
This gives the area an infection rate of 339.5 cases per 100,000 people and is up from the rate of 237.8 from the week before.
Below we have detailed the worst affected areas:
Abbey Field
The area recorded 58 new cases in the week-to July 11, which was an increase of 18 (45%).
This left it with an infection rate of 737.1.
This was more than the week-to January 16, when the area recorded 54 new cases. This left it with an infection rate of 686.2.
Wivenhoe and University
This area recorded 30 new cases in the week to July 11 with an infection rate of 249.8).
It was an increase of 11 cases on the seven days previously (57.9%).
Back in January the area recorded 28 cases in the week to January 16 with an infection rate of 233.1.

How other areas with the current highest cases are faring compared to January lockdown levels:
Mile End & Braiswick has recorded 68 cases in the last seven days and has the highest case numbers in Colchester.
However this is still well below the 110 being recorded in January Old Heath and Rowhedge recorded 43 cases, equivalent to 478.8)cases per 100,000 people.

This is still below the 63 cases in seven days it reported in January.
Shrub End had an infection rate of 430.3cases per 100,000 people, with 41 cases.
This is slightly below the 53 cases it reported in one week in January.
