FIREFIGHTERS have rescued a horse after it became stuck in a river.
The 24-year-old mare was stuck in a river in Coggeshall up to its tail for several hours before crews were called to assist at around 4.10pm yesterday (July 18).
One crew from Coggeshall, an animal rescue unit from Chelmsford and one urban search and rescue team attended the scene.
Firefighters led the animal upstream and created a safe pathway out of the water, using specialist equipment.
The horse was back onto dry land by just over an hour and a half later, unharmed and left in the care of a vet.
