A MAN was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency working after police were called to reports of criminal damage in Colchester town centre.
Essex Police were called to Queen Street at about 4.50am on Saturday following up on information a criminal damage incident may have been in progress.
No evidence of damage was found, however, a man was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "Enquiries at the scene did not find any evidence of criminal damage.
"A 52-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault on an emergency worker and has been released under investigation."
