A FAMOUS folk rock singer will perform two shows at a live music venue in Colchester High Street.

Frank Turner has announced he will perform on two consecutive nights next month at Coda.

Describing the venue as his "new local venue" Turner announced the news on Twitter.

He said: "Friends - excited to announce two new duo shows this August at Coda, Colchester (my new local venue!) with @MattPressure.

"We’ll also have support on the 10th from @JessGuise and Willsbood Bouys and on the 11th from Gin Twins and @josiahmortimer."

During a hugely successful musical career, Turner has released eight solo albums, four rarities compilation albums, one retrospective best of album, one split album and five EPs.

He has performed in Colchester before in support of the Nick Alexander Memorial Trust, the charity set up in memory of the Weeley resident who was killed during a terrorist siege at the Bataclan in Paris while working for rock band the Eagles of Death Metal.
