A SHOPPING centre's revamped summer drinks terrace is back with a band after a roaring success in its first weekend.
Lion Walk Shopping Centre relaunched its new and improved Summer Drinks Terrace this weekend with performances from Colchester DJs Edstar and Paul Hutchinson.
Busker David Dawes entertained residents during Saturday daytime, with a special event in celebration of 100 years of the Royal British Legion on Sunday.
The Summer Drinks Terrace boasts a fully-licensed bar, new summer drinks menu and live music with professional house DJs within it’s established and improved secret garden setting.
There are also additional deck chairs and massive bean bags, where customers can enjoy the tropical vibe.
DJs will perform every Friday and Saturday between 7pm and 11pm through the summer.
Here is a video from the weekend:
Centre manager Martin Leatherdale said: "I am incredibly proud of the launch of our Summer Drinks Terrace last Friday and Saturday.
"In what has been a turbulent year for everyone, especially the music industry, it is wonderful to be able to provide this beautiful platform for artists and the community to perform.
"This is a first for Colchester town centre and building on previous successes promises to deliver the best ever summer tropical, chilled, festival, style offer for our amazing town.
"Friday and Saturday’s events will see live outdoor performances from Colchester’s very own house DJ’s Floyd el Fresh and G.B.J from Our House playing live Friday and Saturday 7pm – 11pm.
"Entry is always free so please come and enjoy the incredible atmosphere in a Covid safe manner."

DJ Paul Hutchinson said: "What a night, what a venue the new summer drinks terrace is in Lion Walk.
"It’s been a long wait due to Covid-19 but it was incredible to be back behind the decks in my hometown.
"All the staff and customers at the venue were dancing along to my music and my incredible bongo player Mister Shed who is always loved when he plays alongside me at my Mi Casa Es Tu Casa parties we put on here in Essex and Ibiza.
"There is something really special about playing the music you love to a crowd that appreciates the music you select, it was one of my favourite sets I have played in a while, and I look forward to returning soon.”
