A BID for former charity shop site to be demolished to make way for a new building with retail units and homes has been revealed.
The planning application was submitted to Colchester Council.
Proposals involve a new building to provide nine residential apartments and two retail units
The proposed site is the former FACE animal charity shop on Church Road, in Tiptree.
The plans include the demolition of the former site to make way for the new building.
It will include on-site car parking, refuse storage, and bicycle parking.
An existing tree on the site would also be taken down.
Applicants state in their plans, the site presents an opportunity to enhance “pedestrian and public experience within the town centre”.

The Highways Authority have objected.
It says the proposals fail to provide off street parking spaces with dimensions in accord with current parking standards.
This is likely to lead to cars being parked in the access route or adjacent highways causing danger, according to Highways.
The proposals constitute 9 new parking spaces within the site, one car parking space for each residential apartment.
Other issues raised include insufficient increased traffic, cycle storage facilities, and unloading, loading, and turning facilities for delivery drivers.
Some residents also objected the proposal to build new retail units, as they would be detrimental to the current businesses in the area.
They urge the council not to allow “more unnecessary competition” for the independent businesses in the community.
One objector said: “The margins are already too slim in this area, the council needs to support the businesses already here.”
Another suggested new doctors surgeries to be built instead to accommodate new houses.
There are also comments which say parking is already a challenge for residents, and new shops would create more issues.
Colchester Borough Council will rule on the application.
