A MYSTERY donor has gifted £5,000 to the appeal to support the family of a little boy from Colchester who died after a mirror fell on him at a department store.
Freddie Farrow was in Fenwick, in High Street, on Tuesday, July 27, when he was struck by a mirror.
Despite the efforts of many people at the scene and in hospital, Freddie sadly died from his injuries on Monday, August 2.
The Colchester community has rallied round his family, with the Colchester Community Group (UK) administrators setting up a fundraising page.
More than £10,000 has now been donated, including a £5,000 donation from one anonymous resident.
The anonymous donor, called simply "A sympathiser", said: "So, so sorry for your loss in this tragic accident.
"As a father to a five and a two-year-old, I cannot imagine what you are going through but hope that the pain lessens over time."

In a statement released through the police on Tuesday, Freddie's mum, Natasha Ingham, said: “He will never leave us. He will be with us every single day throughout all our lives - until we see him again.
“As a family we are devastated by his death.
“He was such a lovely little boy – and very cheeky in a lot of ways.
“He used to pick me flowers every day – it could have been daisies or whatever he could get his hands on – and give them to me and tell me he loved me and I would tell him I loved him back.
“He was so content; he would always ask questions and, I know every mum will say this, he was such a clever little boy.”
“Everyone who knew Freddie just loved him – he was that kind of boy.
"He was always smiling and he really loved going to the beach.”
She thanked the community in Colchester, and further afield, for the outpouring of support since the incident, adding: “I have had a lot of messages from people and that support has been really important for us and I’d like to thank people for that.”
