COLCHESTER’S week-on-week Covid infection rate has fallen, despite the majority of areas in England seeing a rise.
In the week to Saturday, August 14, the borough’s average infection rate was 241.4 cases per 100,000 people, with 476 cases of Covid-19 confirmed.
A week earlier, the borough’s average infection rate was 243.9 cases per 100,000 people, after 481 cases were recorded in the previous seven days.
Tendring’s week-on-week average infection rate, however, has increased from 179.9 cases per 100,000 people in the week to August 7 to 203.6 cases per 100,000 people in the week to August 14.
Out of all authorities in England, 58 per cent saw a week-on-week rise in the latest figures.
The worst affected part of Colchester remains Abbey Field.
In the week to Friday, August 13, the neighbourhood recorded 54 cases, with an infection rate of 686.2 cases per 100,000 people.

The least affected area is West Bergholt and Wormingford.
There were five cases reported in the area in the week to August 13 with an infection rate of 76.8 cases per 100,000 people.

- Marks Tey & Wakes Colne - 253.8 cases per 100,000 people
- Stanway - 218.9 cases per 100,000 people
- Prettygate & Westlands - 218.8 cases per 100,000 people
- Monkwick - 212.9 cases per 100,000 people
- Lexden - 211.7 cases per 100,000 people
- Tiptree - 210.6 cases per 100,000 people
- Parson's Heath - 193.6 cases per 100,000 people
- Highwoods - 181.2 cases per 100,000 people
- Horkesley Heath, Langham & Dedham - 167.9 cases per 100,000 people
- Wivenhoe & University- 166.5 cases per 100,000 people
