A NEW secure cycle park is set to be created in Colchester town centre.
The new facility is set to be created inside two empty units in Portal Precinct, off Sir Isaac's Walk, if a planning application is approved.
A planning report states: "Changing the use of the units to secure cycle park and community bike maintenance fits with policies as they will encourage people into this part of the town centre, helping to make the town centre core more vibrant, encourage visitors and helping the town centre economy.
"The building has been vacant for a number of years and the proposal will bring these empty units back into life adding to the vitality of this part of the town centre."
No changes to the shopfront are planned so there will be no impact on the town centre conservation area.
