COLCHESTER United are in 'ongoing discussions' with potential new signings as they aim to add a new forward to their ranks.
But U's head coach Hayden Mullins insists they are prepared to remain patient in their attempts to bolster their attacking options.
Colchester have been looking to add another striker to their squad over recent weeks, with the transfer window due to shut on August 31.
However, boss Mullins says they will not rush into bringing in any more new faces.
Mullins said: “We’re still talking to a few people.
“It’s going along but with the way the team is performing at the moment and the way we want to go about things, we’re in no rush at the moment and we’ll see how it unfolds.
“There’s ongoing discussions and there’s a lot of chats going on behind the scenes.
“We can’t promise anything but we’ll see how it transpires."
Meanwhile Mullins says he has impressed by the level of unity within his Colchester squad, in their opening games of the season.
The U's battled back well to secure a 1-1 draw against Mansfield Town on Tuesday night, thanks to a 95th-minute equaliser from Freddie Sears.
Colchester are aiming to secure their first win of the new League Two season tomorrow when they travel to play Oldham Athletic, at Boundary Park.
Mullins said: “If we can show this kind of unity now, we’ve come up against some tough teams.
“The players know that with the XI that are on the pitch it’s a team and it’s not about it being about one individual – it’s the whole unit.
“It’s about the players knowing as a unit and as a team when they go on the pitch that we’ve got to stick together.
“You talk about that a lot, that team strength and unity and we’re on the pitch looking after each other.
“If we can all pull together especially at moments when we do a goal down, we can drag each other through.
“We need to start games a bit more positive and a bit more front footed and confident with the ball and we’ll be OK."
