A teenage girl suffered life-threatening injuries after she was hit by a car in the early hours of this morning (Sunday, August 29).
Police were called to Barrack Street, Colchester, at 2.15am today amid reports a pedestrian had been struck by a grey Ford Kuga.
The teenager hit by the car was rushed to hospital in a life-threatening condition and police say they are supporting her loved ones.
A 34-year-old man from Colchester has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
He remains in custody for questioning.
The crash happened on the corner with Challenge Way and police are asking anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage to contact them.
A spokesman said: "We are working quickly to piece together what led up to the collision, so please get in touch if you can help us.
"Please quote incident number 200 of August 29 when contacting us."
