A NEW space in which men will be able to meet with like-minded individuals and engage in conversations and projects is set to open.
The North Colchester Men’s Shed is the latest addition to the Essex Shed Network and is based on a former cow shed in Langham.
The Colchester community group has already established a team of members who have spent months weatherproofing and making it fit for its new purpose.
The process has twice been delayed due to the coronavirus lockdowns, but the large shed is now ready for its grand opening, which will hopefully attract more recruits.
Taking place on September 11 from 11am, the launch ceremony will be led by deputy lieutenant of Essex, Jonathan Minter.
Chairman Roger Newnham said: “It’s been a long time in the planning, but now we’re all set to open our doors to potential new shedders.”
The Essex Shed Network was established in 2016 in Maldon and the North Colchester Men’s Shed, funded by National Lottery’s Community Fund, makes for its 20th project.
Apart from its practical benefits, it is hoped the men who use the space will experience positive mental health and a boosted sense of well-being.
