THE funeral of five-year-old boy who tragically died after sustaining fatal injuries during an incident at a High Street department store will take place on Friday.

Freddie Farrow died on August 2, six days after a mirror fell on him in Fenwick, in Colchester High Street, on July 27.

The funeral for the Gosbecks Primary School pupil will take place at Colchester Crematorium and Cemetery, in Mersea Road, from 10.30am on Friday.

His mum, Natasha Ingham, has been so touched by the outpouring of support from the Colchester community and has said anyone who would like to pay their respects to Freddie is welcome to line the footpaths on Mersea Road between Bourne Road and the entrance to the crematorium.

She has politely asked for privacy during the service, which is strictly invite-only.

Miss Ingham said: “Losing Freddie is something I will never get over.

"But the support our family has received from across the town has been such a source of comfort for us.

“We also know many people have contributed to a fundraising page in Freddie’s memory and if anyone would like to pay their respects to him, we would welcome people doing so in Mersea Road, outside Colchester Crematorium.”

She added: “I would like to say thank you to everyone in Colchester for the support over the last month which has undoubtedly been the hardest of my life.”

The Colchester community was rocked by the youngster’s death and dozens of residents posted their tributes to little Freddie on a book of condolences opened by the Gazette.

The Colchester Community Group (UK) administrators set up a fundraising page in the days after his death to support Freddie's family following the tragedy.

Almost £11,000 was donated, including a £5,000 donation from one anonymous resident.
