BLUEPRINTS have been submitted for a new Travelodge hotel, Burger King, KFC and Starbucks as part of a new retail development.
Burney Estates has applied to Tendring Council to build the 60-bed hotel along with two office buildings, four drive-through restaurants and four business units at Stanton Europark, Harwich.
The six-acre site is currently vacant grassland and is directly behind the Morrisons supermarket, and would be accessed from Freshfields Road.
The blueprints show there will be a drive-thru cafe, takeaway, restaurant and sandwich shop at the site along with a total of 296 parking spaces.
Bill Davidson, ward councillor for Dovercourt Vines and Parkeston, backed the plans.
“I welcome this application with open arms,” he said.
“This will bring a lot of employment into the area and hopefully even more businesses - I’m very happy about it.

“Following the successful Freeport bid for Harwich Port, this is a big vote of confidence in Parkeston.
“It’s a real boost for this area that the developers and Travelodge are willing to invest in a new 60-bed hotel.
“It is a significant investment and will provide jobs for a lot of young people and really is an excellent venture.”
The plans show the Travelodge hotel and 60 car parking spaces will be sited on the west of the site, while the business units, including 140 parking spaces, will be on the north-east boundary.
The two offices will be based over two floors while one of the business units will include five van loading spaces.
It is understood that one of the units could house a Screwfix outlet.
A report by the developer said: “The site is within an employment zone and therefore it is an important part of this scheme to expand on the number of potential employees by proposing the units to suit the needs of businesses and the character of the area.
“We feel that there is a high demand to business units proposed with this scheme in the area and therefore the proposal makes best use of the space available and allows for a greater level of employment opportunities.”
A decision on the application is expected to be made by Tendring Council by November 16.
