A NEW luxury jewellery store will open in Colchester High Street after plans were approved.
Emson Haig has received planning permission from Colchester Council to revamp a vacant unit, the former home of the town's Oasis clothing store, which has been empty since 2017.
Plans include installing a new Portland stone store front with framed windows, fascias and store risers in an anodised metal finish.
New security glazing will be installed, with brand names for Emson Haig and Rolex applied to the frontage.
According to the application the new shop will create seven part-time and three full-time jobs.
Colchester Council's planning officers have rubber stamped the proposals to revamp the unit, as well as the plans for new signage.

Emson Haig is an independent jeweller which set up its first store 25-years-ago at Lakeside.
The old Oasis unit has been the talk of much speculation since the fashion brand left.
Byron Burger was supposed to be opening inside the premises, however, the chain pulled out.
