COLCHESTER Zoo has imposed stricter non-smoking rules in response to a fire at the attraction.
Smoking and vaping will no longer be allowed at smoking zones inside the attraction, with there now being just one designated area outside the zoo entrance.
The zoo says the decision was made in response to a fire at the Maldon Road site, which was quickly contained.

A spokesman for the zoo said: "This decision was taken following the advice of our insurers, as well as damage that has been caused by lit cigarettes over recent years.
"Please be aware if you do choose to leave the zoo to use the designated area outside of the grounds you will need to collect a re-entry wristband upon exiting through our main shop.
"Thank you for your understanding and cooperation."
