FUNDRAISERS are over the moon after a charity golfing event raised £44,000 to support children with a debilitating condition.
Six children are set to received much-needed aid following a record-breaking charity fundraiser.
Funeral directors Daniel Robinson and Sons are no strangers to fundraising, having raised more than £2,000 with a 10km race in July.
But now the business says it has broken its fundraising record following a charity golf event held at the Colne Valley Golf Club, in Earls Colne.
Overall, the company raised £44,272 which will go towards specialist support for six youngsters, who all have cerebral palsy, which impacts on their mobility.
The funds raised from the event are being used to pay for specialist private physiotherapy and equipment.
The business says the physiotherapy is not available through the NHS, but it gives the children the opportunity to greatly increase their mobility, helping to equip them to lead much more independent lives in the future.
Beneficiaries Lenny Pyne, Lyncoln Street, Aiden Thomas, Summer Andrews, Nat Pledger and Sid Orley, are all said to be making fantastic progress, even though many of them have had to endure major surgery during lockdown, making the physiotherapy being provided even more vital.
The event saw residents and companies form teams to compete in the golfing tournament.
The winning team on the day were from Perkins Garage in Braintree.
Managing director of Daniel Robinson and Sons, Gary Neill is delighted with the funds raised.
He said: “This money will make a huge difference to the lives of these children and to their families’ lives.
“Whilst our team work hard to co-ordinate and deliver the day, we couldn’t do any of this without the generosity of local companies who donate items and the players who come and give so generously.
“We would all like to say a grateful ‘thank you’ to everyone who has made this possible.”
