HUNDREDS of art lovers descended on a unique studio space to the make the most of a once-a-year event which offers up a behind the scenes look.
Cuckoo Farm Studios, located in Boxted Road, Mile End, Colchester, hosted its annual Open Studios event attracting 600 people.
The occasion saw residents granted access to the site’s creative spaces in which everything from paintings and ceramics, to sculptures and drawings, are produced.
Visitors were invited to inspect each lock-up, speak with a variety of artists about their work, and find out exactly how the artworks are created.
Children’s workshops were also held throughout the event and there was an exhibition onsite inside the Benham Gallery, while some artists worked outside.
Pam Schomberg, of Cuckoo Farm Studios, said: “Despite the road closure of Boxted Road, the Open Studio weekend at Cuckoo Farm Studios was an out and out success.
“About 600 visitors enjoyed meeting the artists, seeing inside all the individual 30 studio spaces, and learning how the artworks are produced.”
