A MARCH in memory of a young man who died after being stabbed in Clacton was postponed due to the fuel crisis.
Harry Burkett, 21, was stabbed in Orwell Road, Clacton, shortly after midnight on September 12.
Friend Matthew Kirby has planned a march in memory of Harry and to raise awareness of the dangers of knives.
It was due to take place on Sunday, including with members of Harry’s family, but has now been postponed due to the shortage of available fuel.
Matthew said: “We didn’t go ahead with the march in the end - only six people came down due to the petrol situation.
“So, we decided to put it on hold and will hold the march at a later time, perhaps after his funeral.”
A 16-year-old boy, of Clacton, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with murder in relation to Harry’s death.
He appeared before an initial hearing at Chelmsford Crown Court and will appear before the court for a plea and trial preparation hearing on November 22.
An 18-year-old woman, also from Clacton, was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and was released on bail until October 7.
Harry’s heartbroken family have described him as a much-loved “fun character” who had only visited Clacton to enjoy a night of clubbing with a friend.
