A SUBSTANTIAL amount of cannabis was discovered after police raided a house.
Tendring Community Policing Team executed a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act at an address in Gwynne Road, Harwich.
When they got there, evidence of cannabis cultivation was found and a substantial amount of cut cannabis was recovered.
One man decided to run away from officers and he chose to hide in the roof but was later detained.
A spokesman for Tendring’s Community Policing Team added: “One man decided to make off from officers, however he chose the roof to hide.
“With the help from Essex County Fire and Rescue he was detained with a second man.
“Both men have been released pending further inquiries.”
The incident was the latest drug-related raid the police have attended in Harwich.
In June, a large amount of a Class B drug was seized during a police raid in Dovercourt.
The searches, which were carried out at two addresses in Grange Road, saw a man and a woman arrested on suspicion of drug offences.
A month later, a 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs following another police raid in Dovercourt
Harwich mayor Ivan Henderson said: “Where there is drugs there is crime and there is antisocial behaviour and it causes misery to the communities in those areas.
“Drugs are a problem across the country and there is a surge in communities such as ours.

“ I believe the police are doing a really good job under pressure to protect the community and chase those criminals dealing with drugs.”
