Police have arrested two people after a 'sighting of people exiting the rear of a lorry'.
Officers were called to the A120 at Ardleigh this morning at 9.17am.
The incident caused stationary traffic on the route heading towards Colchester at the A133 Hare Green Interchange.
Some motorists were caught in the traffic for up to an hour.
The A120 was closed for a period but is now back open.
An Essex Police spokesman said: "We were called at around 9:17am today (Thursday 30 September) following a sighting of people exiting the rear of a lorry at services on A120, Ardleigh.
"Two arrests have been made.
"Enquiries continue.The A120 is now open in both directions."

Hedingham Buses also has warned some journeys are being affected.
The incident caused delays on the A120 from Harwich and the A133 towards the Frating roundabout.
