A NEW DIY shop has opened in Colchester... much to the delight of handymen and women across the town.
B&Q has completed its relocation from Lightship Way to the new Stane Leisure Park development in Stanway.
It was officially opened on Friday following a ribbon cutting ceremony led by Colchester mayor Robert Davidson.
Caroline Voutsinas, store manager of B&Q Stane Park, said: "DIY has really captured the imagination of the nation over the past 18-months.
"So our new and improved B&Q in Colchester is very timely, giving Colchester DIY-ers and tradespeople a much improved store experience with plenty of exciting new features to make home improvement easier than ever.
"I cannot wait to welcome the local community into the store.”
To celebrate the new shop, the retailer is set to host a number of activities next Friday including a mural painting session with Colchester artist Lucy Tiffney.
Lucy said: “I’m really looking forward to bringing my work to life at the B&Q Colchester launch celebration, working alongside the community to create a beautiful mural that celebrates Colchester and what it means to us.
"For anyone who fancies a fun half-term activity, do come down and give it a go."
An M&S foodhall and and Aldi are also due to open at the leisure park.
The new B&Q store is open seven days a week, Monday-Saturday 7am-8pm, and on Sunday 11am-4pm.
