A PROFESSIONAL dancer is set to launch a new business venture which will bring dance classes to offices to improve staff wellbeing.
The idea is just one strand of the new business being launched by Fi Bool from Colchester, who alongside being a dancer, worked for 12 years running large scale events.
Fi, 33, wants to combine those skills in her business, named Dandelion.
She said: “Dandelion for me is borne out of a need and want for promoting positive workplace well being and my own practice as a dancer, and developing those skills and putting together a formula that could then transfer into other companies.”
Fi plans to offer a variety of services including, for example, 30-minute dance classes at lunchtimes in work spaces.
Fi said she hoped the classes would offer the benefits of physical exercise and mental wellbeing for staff.
She added: “It is a good way to encourage that work break and encourage people to come back into the office now.
“It promotes that social interaction at work we have all been missing, and is an opportunity for team building - you know your colleagues as opposed to when you walk into a dance studio for the first time.
“Who hasn’t had a dance and not felt better afterwards?”
The dancing, for example, could have a 90s theme or be based upon the iconic moves used in Michael Jackson’s hit, Thriller.
“Or as a generic dance work space, my style is pop and modern,” said Fi, who also was crowned 2018 UK Street Dance champion.
Dandelion also plans to offer other services to companies to help improve staff wellbeing, such wellbeing workshops and mental health at work initiatives, yoga classes and massage appointments.
It will work with gym partners to offer fitness checks.
Fi has also been trained by St John Ambulance to be a qualified mental health at work first aider.
A launch event takes place on January 17 at 3A Hawkins Road, Colchester, from 12.30pm to 1.30pm.
Attendance must be booked in advance.
