AWARDS have been presented to active residents across north Essex at this year’s Activity Essex Awards.
The annual awards shine a light on the many ways people can be active, highlighting various triumphs to show the real impact physical activity and sport can make on people’s lives.
Friars Grove Primary School in Colchester won the Active Education Award.
The school consistently makes sure sport is a part of each school day, and regularly competes in different competitions.
Its aim this year was to try to get as many Key Stage 2 children doing sports outside school hours.
The school regularly gets its pupils and community to get active even throughout the lockdown periods.
There were also several winners of the Find Your Active award.
These were those who found the right activity for them this year as part of the Find Your Active campaign.
They included Ian Woodard from Braintree, Ben Slessor from Colchester, Marion Watson from Maldon and Alan Warren from Tendring.
They, along with other winners, received a gift bag to congratulate them on their active achievements.
