AN injured woman had to be rushed to hospital after falling from a bridge onto a busy main road over the weekend.
Essex Police and East of England Ambulance Service paramedics were called to the A12 near Colchester at about 1.20pm on Saturday.
They had received worrying calls detailing concerns for someone who was seen on a bridge positioned directly above fast-travelling vehicles.
After arriving at the scene, the emergency services found a woman injured on the ground having fallen from the overpass and immediatley closed the road.
As a result of the incident, believed to have occurred London-bound just before the Stanway turn-off, heavy traffic built throughout the area.
The woman was subsequently taken to hospital for further treatment, but her condition currently remains unknown.
Essex Police are now appealing for anyone who witnessed what happened or may have any dash-cam footage of the incident to contact them.
A spokesman for the force said: “If you have any information you can submit a report online at essex.police.uk or call us on 101 - please quote incident 521 of 8 January.”
The East of England Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
