A NEW underwater viewing of Colchester Zoo’s Burmese pythons has been installed as part of a freshly completed project.
Works to renovate the attraction’s Wilds of Asia building started last spring seeing it closed off to visitors while the zoo team deconstructed some of the old enclosures and made room for new developments.
The exhibit features animals including an emerald tree monitor and lion-tailed macaques, however, it was the Burmese pythons’ habitat which saw the biggest overhaul.
The land area available has now been increased to give the snakes more room to rest, or the space to engage in other natural behaviours.
The pool has also increased in size to encourage swimming, along with a reconstructed waterfall which leads into a shallow stream to create a comfortable resting area.
