COLCHESTER Council has pledged to clamp down on fly-tipping and says it investigates each individual incident it is made aware of.

A spokesperson for Colchester Council said it is investigating the ongoing spate and will do all it can to tackle the issue.

He said: “We are aware of several incidents of fly-tipping at this location and have been working with residents to educate and, through their vigilance, help enforce where necessary.

“If anyone witnesses fly-tipping in their area, they should report it to the relevant neighbourhood team, details of which can be found on the council’s website and we will clear it as soon as possible.

“Fly-tipping is a serious offence which can incur a £150 fine, or more. All fly-tips are searched and investigated and often lead to successful prosecutions or fines.

“If any evidence is found at a fly-tip by a member of public, they should not touch it but report it for investigation.”

If you spot fly-tipping you should contact the council via www.colchester.gov.uk/street-cleaning.
