Walsall have parted company with head coach Matt Taylor

The Saddlers have made their decision following a poor run of results which has seen them lose their last seven League Two games.

Walsall have won only one of their last 13 games in all competitions and are languishing in 21st spot in the table, four points above the relegation zone.

Neil McDonald and Mat Sadler will take temporary charge of first-team affairs, following Taylor's departure.

In a statement, Walsall said: "Walsall Football Club have parted company with Head Coach, Matt Taylor.

"Neil McDonald and Mat Sadler will take temporary charge of first-team affairs.

"We would like to thank Matt for his efforts and wish him well in the future."

Taylor was appointed as Walsall's head coach, last May.

He join the Saddlers from Tottenham Hotspur, where he had been in charge of the under-18 team.

Taylor made more than 700 appearances in a 20-year senior playing career, with more than 300 of them coming in the Premier League at Bolton, Burnley, Portsmouth and West Ham.

He had a brief spell as Swindon's interim manager in 2018 and joined Spurs the following year.
