WAYNE Brown feels Colchester United are looking strong as an attacking force ahead of their trip to play Northampton Town.

The U's have scored in all of the matches that interim boss Brown has taken charge of, netting nine times in their last six matches.

Five of those goals have come away from home, where Colchester have claimed two wins under Brown.

He believes they can carry that on tomorrow when they take on the promotion-chasing Cobblers, at Sixfields (2pm kick-off).

Brown said: “Goals win you games of football.

“That’s been evident with the 3-0 at Salford and 1-0 at Orient, where we scored and kept a clean sheet there, too that wins us the game.

“The lads are in a good place, with regards to going forwards.

“We’re creating, we’re scoring and you need that confidence and belief in every team to be a success and I do feel that we’ve got that at the moment.

“Our record away from home has been quite healthy this year, which has been great.

“There’s loads of stuff to build on from a real good performance that we had last Saturday where we created opportunities to score goals; having 18 attempts at goal in any match is enough to win games of football.

“We were obviously frustrated that we didn’t but there were loads of positives to come out of the Carlisle game – not just the way that we played but the opportunities that we created.

“Our mindset will be no different.

“We’re going into a game of football, 90 minutes away from home where we feel we can get a win.

“That’s going to be the objective, come Saturday."

Colchester have had a full week to prepare for their game against Northampton, having been without a game in midweek.

The U's have been able to spent extra time on the training ground at Florence Park and Brown says it has been beneficial.

He added: “Without having a game in midweek, we’ve put a bit of detail into them," said Brown.

“Without overloading their brains, we try and put a bit more detail into them for every game and that hasn’t changed.

“It’s just given us a bit of an opportunity to spread that out over days instead of over the space of two sessions, if you like.

“It’s been beneficial.

“It also gives you a little bit more time to get injuries back, which is obviously only going to be of benefit to the squad, having a squad with big numbers and competition for places."
