A WOMAN had to be rescued from her car after a collision with a HGV just metres away from a busy roundabout in Colchester.

The incident garnered a multi-agency response from fire, ambulance and police services on the A133 in Clingoe Hill.

It is understood no one suffered any serious injuries during the incident shortly after 1pm on Thursday.

Clingoe Hill is a key route from the University of Essex campus into Colchester and regularly builds up traffic due to the heavily-used Greenstead roundabout.

A fire brigade spokeswoman said: “We were called to a road traffic collision on the A133, westbound, at 1.11pm.

“On arrival, crews confirmed that a car had collided with a HGV and a female was trapped in her car.
