POLICE are appealing for information after a man was arrested in connection with two concerning incidents where women were targeted.

Essex Police says it believes the two incidents in Colchester are linked after a 21-year-old man was arrested in connection with both of them.

The first took place in Middlewick Close, between Berechurch Road and Monkwick Avenue, at about noon on February 10.

It was reported to officers a woman was sexually assaulted by a man who then also indecently exposed himself in front of her.

Then, at about 11am on Saturday, a woman reported a man making sexual remarks towards her in an area near to the Corporal Budd VC Gym, in Berechurch Road.

A police spokesman said: “A 21 year-old man from Colchester has been arrested in connection with both incidents. He was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault, indecent exposure, and a public order offence.

“He has since been released on bail until 15 March.

"We need anyone who saw anything or has any CCTV, dash cam, or doorbell footage to contact us.”
