Magistrates dealing with cases covering north Essex sit at courts in Colchester and Chelmsford.
Some of the latest cases to come before these courts include a man who stole televisions from a homeless support charity.
A DRINK driver found to be more than double the legal limit has been hit with a two-year driving ban.
Emma Norrington, 48, drove a Vauxhall Corsa in Old Heath Road, Colchester, on January 22 while over the legal alcohol limit.
A test recorded 97mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35mcg.
Norrington, of Collingwood Fields, East Bergholt, admitted one charge of drink driving at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on February 10.
She was hit with a community order, requiring her to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work.
She was banned from driving for two years and ordered to pay £105 in prosecution costs.
A THIEF who stole four televisions from a homeless charity is set to be sentenced by a crown court judge.
John Warner, 33, took the televisions, worth £1,418, from Emmaus Colchester between August 28 and November 11 last year.
He admitted a charge of theft at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on February 10.
Warner, of Alexandra Road, Colchester, was released on unconditional bail until a hearing at Chelmsford Crown Court on March 10.
A WOMAN who drove a vehicle while over the legal alcohol limit in a pub car park also had no insurance or valid licence.
Kimberley Almond, 31, admitted a charge of drink driving after the incident outside a Colchester pub on January 22.
Appearing at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on February 10, she also admitted driving without insurance and without a valid licence.
Almond, of Beechwood Close, Colchester, was banned from driving for 15 months, fined £120 and ordered to pay £105 in prosecution costs.
A MAN has appeared in court accused of carrying out an assault causing serious injuries.
Jake Wilson, 21, is alleged to have carried out the attack on August 28 last year, in Colchester.
He appeared at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on February 8, where he did not enter a plea to a charge of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
Wilson, of Erle Havard Road, West Bergholt, was released on conditional bail until a hearing at Ipswich Crown Court on Tuesday, March 8.
The conditions include not entering any licensed bar, pub or nightclub within Colchester town centre between 4pm and 6am.
He is also prohibited from contacting the alleged victim.
