Rises in the cost of living will not be far from the headlines over the coming months, and commuters will understandably be keeping a close eye on fuel prices to make sure they’re not paying over the odds at the pump.
Petrol stations throughout Colchester have varying prices – which could mean you spend up to £5 more each time you fill up a 60-litre tank of fuel.
Here is your comprehensive round-up of Colchester’s most used petrol stations, which may make you think twice about where you fill up.
1st: Tesco, Greenstead Road (CO1 2TE) and Tesco Extra, Highwoods (CO4 9ED) – 144.9p per litre
Whilst other retailers have upped their price in the last fortnight, Tesco’s petrol prices have remained stagnant. 60 litres of fuel costs you £86.94 at these petrol stations.
3rd: Asda, Turner Road (CO4 5TU) – 145.7p per litre
Closely behind Tesco is Asda who, interestingly, have made a miniscule reduction in their petol price by 0.01p. Rather than pay £87.48 for a 60-litre petrol tank two weeks ago, you will now pay £87.42.
4th: Sainsbury’s, Stanway (CO3 8AA) and Co-Op, Peartree Road (CO3 5JX) – 145.9p per litre
At just a penny more expensive than Colchester’s cheapest petrol stations, Sainsbury’s and Co-Op’s petrol stations charge £87.54 for a full tank of petrol.
6th: BP, Mersea Road (CO2 8PU) – 146.9p per litre
Having kept their prices the same over the past two weeks, the BP garage on Mersea Road will cost you £88.14 for 60-litres of fuel.
7th: Texaco Shrub End (CO3 4SA) – 147.9p per litre
The petrol prices of larger oil companies tend to be higher than their supermarket rivals, and so it is the case here. This petrol station in Shrub End charges £88.74 for a full tank.
