Drug drivers and suspects found in possession of indecent images were just some of the cases to appear before magistrates in recent weeks.
Here are three cases to be dealt with by magistrates in Chelmsford and Colchester.
- A DRUG driver has been banned from the roads for more than two years after he got behind the wheel with cannabis and amphetamines in his system.
Taylor Crawford, 24, drove in Colchester on October 18, 2020, while over the limit for two controlled drugs.
He was found to have 10mcg of THC – the main psychoactive ingredient of cannabis – per litre of blood. The legal limit is 2mcg per litre.
He also had 290mcg of amphetamines per litre of blood. The legal limit is 250mcg per litre.
Crawford, of Geranium Walk, Colchester, admitted two counts of drug driving at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on February 14.
He was fined £120 and banned from driving for 29 months.

- A MAN found in possession of indecent images of children has been spared an immediate term behind bars.
Martin Roast, 42, had stored nine images at the most serious Category A on an electronic device in Colchester.
He also had ten pictures at Category B.
Roast, of Clover Way, Ardleigh, admitted two counts of possessing indecent images of children.
Appearing at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on February 14, he was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment, suspended for two years.
He must complete a 40-day rehabilitation activity requirement and was made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order monitoring his use of devices.
- A MAN who was given a chance to stay out of trouble after his was found to be carrying a knife has been jailed after breaching a suspended sentence order.
Florin Sorescu, 26, breached the order by driving a car without a valid licence or insurance in Colchester in December last year.
In September last year, he was sentenced to 16 weeks imprisonment, suspended for a year, after he was convicted of possessing a folding pocket knife.
Sorescu, of Capstan Place, Colchester, admitted the breach, driving without insurance and without a valid licence during a hearing at Colchester Magistrates’ Court in January.
Appearing at the same court on February 15, he was jailed for 18 weeks.
