SPECIALIST detectives have launched an investigation into an attempted rape which is suspected to have taken place in an alleyway on a residential estate.
Essex Police cordoned off a walk-through in the Campion Road area on Monday night and remained at the scene until the following morning.
It has since transpired officers were meticulously inspecting the area after receiving a shocking and concerning report of attempted rape.
The victim, who first made contact with the force on Monday, says the terrifying incident occurred at about 10pm on February 10.
Essex Police are now appealing for anyone with information which could aid their investigation to contact them as soon as possible.
A spokesman said: “Incidents like this are rare and specialist detectives are investigating and the victim is being supported by specialist officers.
“We need anyone who saw anything or has any CCTV, dash cam, or doorbell footage to contact us quoting the crime reference number 42/57857/22.
