Drivers faced more tailbacks on Essex's main trunk road after two separate accidents On Saturday, firefighters from Colchester and Coggeshall were called out to the A12 between Eight Ash Green and Marks Tey, after a car had rolled onto its roof, trapping the driver inside.
Crews were called to the accident at 1.10pm to assist the woman from her vehicle, which had ended up down an embankment. One lane of the A12 was closed.
A spokesman for the ambulance service said: "A woman in her 40s was taken to Colchester General Hospital after her car came off the A12 and ended up on its roof."
The woman has suspected spinal injuries but her injuries were said not to have been life-threatening.
On Friday night motorists were brough to a standstill when a lorry caught fire, leaving the A12 at Kelvedon closed.
Firefighters tackled the blaze in the 40ft articulated lorry, which was carrying a full load of aluminum, from 5pm.
Crews from Coggeshall, Witham, and Colchester spent an hour fighting the flames on the northbound Kelvedon bypass, which at first left both carriageways closed.
It took until 6pm for firefighters to put out the fire.
