A major incident at the height of rush hour closed a busy road in Colchester on Thursday evening.
The A134, Station Way, was closed between the Essex Hall roundabout and the North Station roundabout from about 4.30pm after a serious incident.
The road remained shut until 6.30pm, when it was reopened by police.

The incident, the details of which have not yet been formally confirmed by police, caused major gridlock during the evening rush hour with long queues stretching down Colne Bank Avenue and Cowdray Avenue.
Public service buses had to change their routes as a result of the gridlock.

Service 61/65/66 affected 66 will terminate at The Albert roundabout West Bergholt cannot be served at this time. 61 and 65 will serve Highwoods and hospital area intermittently via a large diversion.

Essex Police is yet to formally comment on the incident after being contacted by the Gazette.
