Here is a round-up of cases which have been heard in court in Essex in the last few weeks.
- A MAN who was caught drink driving also launched an assault on a police officer.
Kyron Franklin, 25, drove a Ford Transit van in Walton on August 10 while over the legal alcohol limit.
Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court heard he had 59mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35mcg.
Franklin, of Vaughan Williams Way, Warley, in Brentwood, admitted assaulting a Special Constable and possessing cocaine.
He admitted charges of drink driving, assaulting an emergency worker and possession of a Class A drug.
Appearing before magistrates’ on March 2, he was fined £50 and hit with a community order, requiring him to carry out 60 hours of unpaid work.
He was banned from driving for 14 months.
- A TEENAGE boy found in possession of hundreds of indecent images of children has been referred to a youth offender panel.
The teenager, 16, from Clacton, who cannot be named for legal reasons, admitted three charges of making indecent images before magistrates in January.
He also admitted distributing an indecent photograph of a child at Category C.
He was found to be in possession of 33 images at Category A, 46 at Category B and 278 at Category C.
Appearing at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on March 2, The teenager was referred to a youth offender panel for 12 months.

- A MAN has been banned from the road after being caught drug driving.
Danny Clarke, 27, of Carisbrook Avenue, Clacton, was found to have 208 micrograms of controlled drug benzoylecgonine per litre of blood when his Mercedes B180 car was stopped in London Road on July 26 last year.
The legal limit for the drug - the main metabolite of cocaine - is 50.
He admitted the charge at Colchester Magistrates’ Court and was banned from the roads for two years, fined £100 and ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work within the next year.
- A WOMAN has been banned from the roads after drink driving.
Julie Deery, 48, of Thoroughgood Road, Clacton, was found to have 46 mcgs of alcohol in 100 mls of breath when her Peugeot 307 was stopped in Station Road. The legal limit is 35.
She admitted the charge at Colchester Magistrates’ Court and was banned from the roads for 16 months and fined £100.
Deery also admitted separate charges of driving without third party insurance, driving other than in accordance with a licence and driving without a valid test certificate, but was handed no separate penalty.
