A POP-UP chain will become the first shop of its kind in Colchester as it opens its doors this weekend.
The Pop-Up Club is coming to Lion Walk Shopping centre for a six week residency this spring as it opens today.
The Essex-based concept store organises pop-up shops and markets for small, creative and independent brands across the UK.
It will showcase 40 locally-based independent and sustainable brands under one roof, while customers can shop beautifully hand-crafted products.

Essex makers participating in Colchester include plant and terrarium enthusiasts, The Copper Cacti, beautiful sustainable jewellery makers, Metal Lust, and handmade baby and kids clothes, Sew Cute, Sew Wild, among many others.
With Mother’s Day just around the corner next Sunday, customers can also find an array of unique, artisan gifts which give back to the community.
The Pop-Up Club’s founder, Tillie Peel, said: “We’re incredibly excited to open in Colchester and provide such a prime platform for amazing local businesses.
“The high street and customers are crying out for more independent, diverse and sustainable alternatives, and we look forward to bringing just that to Lion Walk.”
“Being from Essex, we already have a little following in Colchester and we can’t wait to help more people discover and support small businesses in their area.”
In 2021 The Pop-Up Club states it supported more than 500 small businesses via their events, and generated surplus of £500,000 in income for creative business owners across its pop-up shops alone.
Tillie added: “2021 was an incredible year of expansion for us. The response from customers coming out to support our events and shop small was overwhelming.
“Shoppers are becoming even more savvy and conscious about what they buy and how it impacts the world we live in.”

“The launch of their pop-up shop will add a new, vibrant shopping experience for our customers and offers shoppers the chance to support local business owners.”
