ACTORS from a community theatre group are set to tackle a Broadway show for their latest production as they look to portray the ridiculousness of the entertainment industry.

The Nayland Villager Players will take to the stage at the Nayland Village Hall, in Church Land, Colchester, for three nights from March 31.

Directed by Mary Moriarty, the performance will see the group take on Moon Over Buffalo, which was written by Ken Ludwig.

Set in the summer of 1953, the piece follows two failed Broadway stars, George and Charlotte Hay, who are played by John McCarroll and Susanne Harknett.

Throughout the story, described as a fast-moving comedy, the pair are seen attempting to regain their former glory in New York.

Other characters portrayed by the eight-strong cast also find themselves tangled in a web of romantic intrigue as they become something more than just good friends.

A spokesman for the Nayland Village Players said: “Moon Over Buffalo portrays the ridiculous lives of the people who inhabit the world of theatre.

“Full of laughs and slapstick, it climaxes with farcical scenes which defy description - you really need to see it for yourself.”

Tickets, which cost £7.50 for adults and £6 for under 16s, are available from villageplayers.co.uk or the Nayland Post Office.
