WILL Quince's decision to support Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak in the wake of them being fined for breaking lockdown rules has been met with anger and distain.
Colchester's MP took to Twitter on Tuesday night after the Prime Minister and the Chancellor were found guilty of breaching Covid-19 regulations.
Despite Boris Johnson becoming the first sitting Prime Minister in history to break the law Mr Quince vowed to back his boss as opposed to calling for him to resign.
In a statement he said: “So many across our country made extraordinary sacrifices throughout the pandemic.
“Events at No.10 should not have happened. The PM and Chancellor have rightly apologised unreservedly.
“I support the PM and the Chancellor as we deliver on the priorities of the British people.”
Since pledging his support to Boris and Rishi and refraining from calling for them to resign, Colchester MP's has himself come under fire.

Martin Goss, Colchester councillor and leader of the Colchester Liberal Democrats, blasted Mr Quince for his stance and said his days in office were numbered.
He said: “You’ve totally lost your grip on reality and the anger out there against your Government.
“You’ll be toast at the next election. I think this statement will eventually lead to your own retirement party.”
Mr Quince’s constituents are far from happy with his position either.
One of his constituents added: “You think an apology is acceptable?
“You and every other politician or MP live in another world to the rest of us. Go support them somewhere else.”
Another added: “How many more times can Johnson lie his face off, stick two fingers up to the public and wriggle his way out of yet another situation for which he is responsible, before you say enough is enough?
“Is your loyalty to your constituents, who demand better, or to the PM?”
More than 50 referrals for fines have been made and the Metropolitan Police said at least 30 more fixed penalty notices will be issued by the ACRO Criminal Records Office.
The Prime Minister may face more woe over the coming days, amid claims Sue Gray’s report into the Partygate scandal is due next week and is said will make “uncomfortable reading”.
