BRAVE ghost hunters are being encouraged take a tour of a historic hospitality venue in search of creepy ghouls.
The Red Lion Hotel, in High Street, Colchester, will host its Ghost Hunt and Dinner event overnight between Saturday and Sunday.
The spooky site, which was originally built in 1465, is considered to be one of the most haunted locations in the town.
The evening of nerve-testing entertainment will begin with a tasty two-course dinner before guests search for ghosts in the bedrooms and the Tudor Room.
As the night draws to a creepy close, a vigil will also be held in the hotel cellars, where the ghost of Alice Catherine Millar may well be lurking.
She was murdered at the hotel back in 1638 and since then has reportedly roamed the venue’s hallways and rooms, tournament guests and workers alike.
A spokesman for the over 18s event said: “Are you brave enough to join the investigators on a full blown ghost hunt at Colchester's famous Red Lion Hotel?
“As with most old coaching inns the Red Lion Hotel has a strong presence of the paranormal and recently there have been three main sightings in the hotel.”
Tickets for the 7.30pm until 2am ghost hunt can be purchased by visiting Eventbrite.co.uk or ghosthuntertours.co.uk.
