THE brother of a man who went missing ten years ago has appeared on a TV show as he raises awareness about his disappearance.

Anthony Stammers went missing from his home in Mile End Road, Colchester, on May 27, 2012.

Despite his disappearance sparking a wide-scale police search and public appeals for information, there have been no significant leads.

His parents firmly believe Anthony, who was 27 when he disappeared, is still alive.

His brother James, 39, has taken part in SAS: Who Dares Wins to raise awareness about his brother’s disappearance.

He hoped it would help him find his brother.

James, who was recruit 12, quit the show while his fellow recruits were being punished.

But fans think it many not be the last we see of him and he could be a mole.

James, who is a gym owner in Bristol and grew up in the Colchester area, said: “I was turning 40 and feel the best I’ve ever felt so wanted to put myself to the test.

“I’ve never really been broken down so I wanted to know how much I could endure and where or how I might break.

“My brother disappeared ten years ago, so I also wanted to create awareness of that through my presence and story within the show.”

James admitted the experience of being on the show was “interesting”.

He said: “From a psychological standpoint it was almost polar opposite to what I expected. The things you think will be difficult weren’t and the things you didn’t or never even accounted for, really do have an impact.

“I guess to paraphrase, you think big individual events will cause stress but actually it’s the constant, tiny and repetitive anxiety that plays the biggest role. In a nutshell, it was everything I expected and nothing I expected all at the same time.”

Anthony, who had previously been treated for depression, was last seen on May 27 when he told his mum he was going to meet friends in London.

However, Anthony did not meet his friends or attend his grandfather’s funeral at Colchester Crematorium.

Anthony is 5ft 10ins, of medium build and had short dark hair when he disappeared. Anyone with information can call Essex Police on 101 or Missing People on 116 000.
